I remember when I was first pregnant with Jaiden, my mom had given me a shirt that she wore for her baby shower while pregnant with me. At the time (me being young minded) I didn’t really think anything of it. I mean I thought it was sweet but honestly I didn’t even wear it while I was pregnant. She gave it to me because she had kept it all these years and decided to pass it down to me since I was her first daughter that was expecting.
Fast forward to me growing up and being pregnant with MJ, (10 years later) I finally got to wear it and I did the same while pregnant with Jayla. It meant something for me to have pictures in the shirt so that I could pass down to them. Clearly since MJ was my first girl, that shirt, I hope to pass down to her (in like 100 years of course!) For Jayla I also have something special to hand down to her. The maternity gown I wore in the hospital right after she was born is specifically for her.
But it doesn’t stop there, I’ve held on to a few baby clothes of each of my kids, that I hope to pass down to them for their children to wear or just to keep. I saved one of Jaiden’s T-shirts he wore as a kid. It’s a green shirt that says Brooklyn on it. I loved that shirt! So I saved it and MJ uses it as a PJ now. She loves wearing it! It fits her like a little dress! Everytime Jaiden sees her wear it he says “Hey that’s my shirt!” and she giggles!
Over the Summer I was gifted these beautiful sandals for MJ called The Magnolias from The Humble Soles. Let me tell you a little bit about the company. The Humble Soles isn’t just a regular shop, Gabriel and Ashlyn started up the shop to help Nicaraguan Children in need. Each pair of leather shoes is handcrafted by Nicaraguan Artisans and 10% of each purchase is donated to help those children in need. How amazing is that?! They get better, you see, you yourself get to decide where you’d like to donate to, : Feed a child, Fund a child’s education or Fix a child’s home. Don’t you just love a company that gives back? Unfortunately the sandals are no longer available but they have just launched their Fall Kids and Fall Bebe Collection and every single pair is absolutely stunning.

That’s why MJ’s sandals are so important to me. I don’t let her wear them all the time because I don’t want her to mess them up. I plan to save them so that one day when she has a daughter of her own she can pass them down to her, the way my mother passed something down to me. Do you have anything special to you that you plan on passing down to your children? If so, let me know in the comments below and as always thanks for reading!

I love when you find that one item that you have to hold onto to keep and to pass down. I have a pair of moccasins for each of my girls.
