A few weeks ago my family and I decided to take a trip to the famous Lion Country Safari! We’ve taken Jaiden before so we decided it was time to take MJ. She’s a super fan of all animals and so we knew she’d love it. I on the other hand need no excuse to visit this place because I absolutely LOVE IT!!!
This is Florida’s only Drive-Through Safari and the top tourist attraction in Palm Beach County. Hundreds of people visit this “Cageless Zoo” every year to see over 900 animals up close and personal. The park also includes a walk-through amusement park with animal feedings, a water playground, rides, food, and shopping. As you can see there’s so much to do. Great day to spend with the kids and family.
First things first… THE DRIVE-THROUGH… In the drive-through you have the option to drive your own car (they are not responsible for any possible damages the animals can do to your car) or you can rent one of their vehicles for a small cost. We’ve done both. They hand you a map and a CD that you play that explains what animals you are about to encounter. I think it’s awesome that you can see all sorts of different animals basically crossing the road in front of you or just staring at you from the outside.
On our very first visit as we were passing the Ostrich’s, one of them came right up to us and started pecking at our window!! It was so funny and scary at the time, I literally thought it was going to break the window!
MJ really enjoyed this part of the park, she would scream every time she saw an animal coming close to us.
Next up, The WALK-Through…In this part of the park you come across lots of animals, animal feeding area, some rides, a gift shop, food stops, a small petting zoo and the water playground. I always love seeing the Flamingos and feeding the Giraffes.
You can expect to spend anywhere from 4-5 hours at the whole park….we have not visited the water playground yet but from the looks of it I’m sure it’s fun! This is definitely one of those places that you don’t get tired of going more than once. I’ve gone twice and I’m already planning for the next time. If you are in the South Florida area and you have not payed this place a visit please do so, trust me you will not be disappointed. If you have let me know in the comments below what’s your favorite part of the park. As always thanks for reading!
